40 years ago this morning a young woman gave birth to a baby boy. She would take him home to the apartment she shared with her husband and place that baby boy in a cage on a Florida balcony through the hot summer. This was the beginning for our dear son Eddie. A horrific beginning for any child. However, that woman would not be the one he would call Mom.

He came into our lives a bundle of energy and anger just days before his 6th birthday. He struggled much in his life and many people offered their opinion about what would “make him better.” I will admit that there were days and nights that I wasn’t sure I was the best mother. Many nights I cried out to God that He had made a mistake in thinking we were the best choice for parents of this bright, charming, and challenging boy.

Eddie changed our lives forever!

The Lord had already numbered his days. God knew that September 10, 2003 would not be an “early” ending for our son’s time on earth, but rather right on time.

So Happy 40th Birthday in Heaven, Eddie, my beloved son.
